If any of you are feeling like I do, then please join me in wishing 2018 a not-so-fond farewell. Personally, professionally and politically it was a tough one. However, I remain hopeful that 2019 will prove to be better. I’m kicking off the year with a just finished manuscript – currently called, Rob Starr – a YA romance told through the eyes of Mia Morgan, a sixteen-year-old nobody about the delicious basketball boy she falls for – big time. But don’t expect a sweet and sticky romance. This book is a controversially honest account of what really goes on in high school – from sex to drinking to slut-shaming. Definitely not for the very young or the faint of heart.
So why write a YA romance that is so brutally real? Because I, like Mia, believe that the lies we tell and the secrets we keep only serve to separate us from one another. And the truth – while it may not set us free – might help us to stop judging ourselves and each other so harshly.
Thank you all for reading this blog and for the amazing reviews you have shared about The Third Coin (Now that Rob Starr is done, I can focus more on finishing the sequel). I wish you all a TRULY Happy New Year filled with love, friendship, laughter and reading.
